Not a loser I swear

So I know posting twice in one day puts me in the loser catagory, but I found this and I am way too excited about it. First, there is a little backstory to this wonderful find. This year has been le merde when it comes to matters of the heart for me. When I say le merde, I mean le merde, things have been ass, but some good things have come of it all.

One of the best things by far has been the finding of this band called Pink Martini, they sound like a 30's dance hall band mixed with a salsa band and they have very noir inspired lyrics. It's easy to say that I love them and one of my favorite songs they do is called Symathique, obviously in French. But I found a translation for the lyrics and THEY ROCK!! I have dubbed this my song damnnit!
And without further adu,

Sympathique by Pink Martini

My room has a shape of a cage
The sun passes its arm by the window
Hunters at my door
Like the little soldiers
Who want to take me

I don't want to work
I don't want to lunch
I want only to forget him
And then I smoke

Already I knew the perfume of love
A million roses don't embalm as much
Now only one flower in my entourages
Make me sick

I don't want to work
I don't want to lunch
I want only to forget him
And then I smoke

I am not proud of that
Life who wants to kill me
It is splendid to be sympathetic
But I never knew it

I don't want to work
No
I don't want to lunch
I want only to forget him
And then I smoke

I am not proud of that
Life who wants to kill me
It is splendid to be sympathetic
But I never knew it

I don't want to work
No
I don't want to lunch
I want only to forget him
And then I smoke

And I found the lyrics because I was having fun at youtube and for your viewing pleasure:

Slow Process

So as probally everyone reading this knows, I'm working slowly but surly on a toolbox, painting it and I'm going to line it blah blah blah, I've talked about it to death, but I just finished one of two sugar skulls I have planned. I don't like this one much, I think I could have done better but I'll save that for the next one. Until then, this is my main girl and I named her June.

I'm Awesome/First Post

So here we are, after months of myspace, livejournal, and other blogging options, I have finally chosen to start blogging here. Yes, I still have myspace, but myspace is no longer to appealing to me. Yes, I have a livejournal, everything there is private so if you are indeed a friend of mine find me there. My LJ blogs will be much more personal than this one because I decided to make this one public. Enough of that hoo ha, lets start with really boring stuff.

Here is a little bit about me,I have a very close group of friends and attempt a social life every so often. My dream job was at a bookstore, but because of certain aspects I had to quit and now work in a coffee shop and get routine odd on the job injuries. I like to think I'm interesting, but I'm good at pretending...no really, I'm awesome.

On to my interests:

I like old movies, they are a large part of my life. My favorite eras span from the 20's to the early to mid 60's, but I prefer the silents to most everything else. I also really like the noirs from the 40's and the 50's. And I like fluffy romantic things that make me giddy inside. I use the schedule from the Stanford (by far my favorite theatre http://www.stanfordtheatre.org/stf/) and the Castro to make my plans.

Literature is the next on my list. I love to read and prefer books to people most of the time. I read a lot of fiction, young adult, bios, graphic novels, history, and some current events. I used to work for Books Inc and I still love and adore the company. I have way too many books and spend a majority of time reading. Some of my most loved titles are as followes (in no particular order):

~The Weetzie Bat Books~Persepolis~King Dork~Please Kill Me~Haunted~The Perks of Being a Wallflower ~Clockwork Orange~Echo~Ghost World~Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas~I, Fatty~Valencia~House of Leaves...there are more, I promose, I just don't want to bore everyone too much.

Music is my life, my instruments and music collection are the closest friends I have. I play a 4 string electric wasburn jazz bass, I own a jet something or another model Grestch, I still need to learn how to play it though I keep trying and failing miserably. My music tastes range all over the place, I listen to a lot of rock and roll, punk, rockabilly, psychobilly, swing, jazz, old country (a la Johnny Cash and Wanda Jackson), bluegrass, some industrial and goth.

I'm a little too into crafting. I make my furniture look cool, make boring things interesting, I cut and sew and am now working on embroidery. I will used this blog a lot for posting my current projects and updates on old ones. So hold on tight...(kidding y'all)

So that's about all for me, let the fun begin.
